Most '51 assemblers treat "Rn" where n=0..7 as a reserved keyword, and don't allow it outside an instruction which really relates to registers. But, as Andy says, please show us your program (snippet), the result of assembling, and tell us which assembler are you using - there may be assemblers around which don't obey this "rule", and it's good to know before falling for this trap.
