i have read about how to interface 64k ROM and RAM with 8051, but now i have got a new question in my mind, that how would i program the rom?

i mean to say that-
i was wondering to use a burner[programmer] to put the c code in the 8051 chip. but since i wish to use an external rom, then how should i program the rom?
and even if i did so, then wont it will be a problem for the microcontroller to load the instructions from the external rom, not from the internal one?

sorry, but i am a newbie so i dont have much knowledge about interfacing external memories...
