should you, by some miracle, get a breadboard to run ANY chip

Well, plenty of people do seem to get microcontrollers running on breadboards...

I did so many microcontroller projects on breadboards but the strange thing is I never managed to make MAX232 chip work on the breadboard. I make small pcb for the max232 chip and it works.
I hate breadboards but sometimes they are helpful for testing ics that are not supported by ic tester.
