#100914 - UART ISPability Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Not only the DS89C4x0, quite a selection of '51s is UART-ISP(In-Situ Program)-able. An overview: http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=98321 . As for the "cheaper" Atmel parts, the AT89S-series (which already replaced the old AT89C-series) parts are SPI-ISP-able. While it is not usable from a terminal, there are simple contructions around which use the PC COM-port for such SPI-ISP. I am not an advocate of them as they might bring more confusion than proper operation under certain conditions; they are an alternative to consider for an amateur. Jan Waclawek |
