#101305 - Loopback Responding to: ???'s previous message |

I would like to know how I can test if my PC is receiving data from my 8051. Search for "Loopback" - a loopback test is ideal in this situation. I have tested the 8051 and the max232 chips-- both have outputs. How did you test them? What do you mean by, "both have outputs?" - are they valid RS232 outputs, with correct baud rate, polarity, etc, etc? I tried connecting through the hyperterminal but nothing comes out. Try a loopback on your PC's COM port - if that doesn't work, it's a PC problem; If it does work, progressively move the loopback further away from the PC until you have tested the whole chain (including cables!) from PC to 8051 pins. (your search should get you to a more detailed description of that process). |
