#101672 - Cypress
Responding to: ???'s previous message
We've used CYWUSB6934 with good results. It really depends on how much you want to spend, how much of the work you want to do (chips vs modules), what operating frequency and how fast the data rate is. We replaced 9600 baud RS-232 with our own protocol using the Cypress chip. The CYWUSB6934 requires hardware SPI in the host MCU. You can't bit-bang fast enough to make it worthwhile. Theoretically Atmel is supposed to be a second source for the chips, but so far I haven't seen any evidence of that.

Other alternatives chip-wise are Nordic (as other post mentioned), ZigBee (Chipcon, Motorola, etc), Atmel, TI, Integration, ...

Radiotronix has some cool modules. See also Ant Technology.
