#101918 - try this Responding to: ???'s previous message |
It has a RJ45 connector on the machine, I was wondering if this could be used for serial communication. I have tried Ethernet and Token Ring, with no success. I was wondering if I purchase a converter from RJ45 to DB9 would this possibly allow me to communicate with my Device.
Measure the voltage on all pins, if one is very positive and one is negaive, it is probably 232. Ig two have a voltage somewhere in the 2V region and are separated by about 0.5V it is probably one of the 485 based systems (you can e.g "see" CAN and much else by 485). If it is a 485 type, try using a converter from B & B and hyperterminal to see what actually comes out. If the voltage levels are 232, then, obviously, no converter is needed. You will have to play with baudrates and such, but with dilligence, you should be able to see what is coming out. Anyhow, can you not get a manual that tellyou? |
