When working with PLL 74HC4046 there's a nice trick to improve jitter, which comes from interference due to the fact, that comparator and VCO are sitting in the same package and are unsanely coupled because of hanging on the same noisy VCC pin: Take two such chips, while using the comparator from the one and using the VCO from the other. Use also independent RLC filtering for both supply pins, then working with these PLL chips is a joy. Kai |
