#103238 - 8051 and LCD without a controller |
Hi all,
I am a absolute beginner doing a project, part of it is controlling a Palm IIIx lcd with 8051, it's a 160x160 screen without a lcd controller, After a day of googleing anad trying, nothing shows on the LCD, so I begin to doubt if it is possible to interface the LCD to 8051 I've got the timing diagram, and the pinout for the lcd, my questions are: 1. is it possible to use 8051 code to replace the LCD controller hardware? 2. If it is possible, can the 8051 provide enough bandwidth? (since it is 160x160 and need to be refreshed every bit every 20-30ms, the 8051 has another task controlling touch screen) 3. If above two are positive, how long it will take for an inexperience guy to do that? I would like to thank you all in advance. lcd timing: http://hk.geocities.com/ihecity20...EBB-T1.pdf lcd pinout: http://hk.geocities.com/ihecity2002/TP-160.pdf code that i wrote which fails: http://hk.geocities.com/ihecity2002/testlcd.asm since the Palm IIIx uses a dragonball, i found that the dragonball has a built in LCD controller, here are some info the timing diagram of the dragon ball is here: http://hk.geocities.com/ihecity20...timing.pdf the full dragonball datasheet: http://www.cs.ust.hk/~keithlau...onBall.pdf |
