Yes you are right (and its low level) its the USBN9603, you can buy it from RS. in this page there is axample for the avr , but it takes a lot of work... http://hubbard.engr.scu.edu/embedded/avr/code

I am looking for the same all in one, i guess the lucky one it would be the Atmel AT89c5131 (or AT89c5132), its difficult for me to buy it locally, i guess Digi-key have it.
The SO28 footprint its my developer choice.
