But, Will it do any good? Your are the engineer. It is your design. Only you can figure out how much your diagnostics can help.
For Example a pinball machine. Several PCB, relay drivers, lamp drivers, a switch matrix, a mile of wires. Good diagnostics are a must. Now, fixing PCB at a dirty construction site? Not recommended. Diagnostics to see if it is just a switch or a wire, Very recommended. Built in diagnostics or seperate code? Do you have the space? I like my diagnostics to go through the com port, unless I have a good display in the project, But that is just me. Never under estimate the power of a blinking LED. If you are looking to test the CPU in circuit the is a more difficult task. |
