You are still missing the point. If Keil text editor bad in your opinion, does not mean the concept of IDE is wrong. It may be that you don't know how to use it effectively.
Initially compilers were buggy and the Moon shot was using unstructured Fortran and no GUI, so why use compilers or structured languages or GUI? Even today I am better than most low end autorouters for PCB, so is autorouting a bad concept?
Just because you did it that way or are more comfortable with a method, does not mean it is the best. Let the student learn some things by trying them out.
