I've used both the 68HC11, and of course the venerable 8031/2/etc and I have to say that I find the 8051 architecture much more to my liking than that of the HC11, the 8051's I/O is much better as is the memory organisation.
The only reason I'm looking elewhere is for 16/32 bits and more speed, so I'm looking at Mototola again -> Coldfire or similar. |
