#111924 - Why? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
You said compatibility, I cannot even upgrade a design from the vanilla variety of 51 to Silabs or LPC9xx, because the supply changes. With PIC, I can even move to the DSP and keep the supply same. This is one reason why I moved from 51 to PIC for a keyboard manufacturer's design. The number of I/Os keep varying and Silabs are too costly in India, the LPC9xx limited in availability.
Philips did admit later that the early LPC9xx had a serial programming bug, and would need a parallel programmer to restore serial programmability. So I will take their word over your any day of the week and twice on Sundays, magic or otherwise. Even the vanilla variety of Philips changed from 89C51UBPN, then BPN, with change in programming algo/ timing, after which my customers gave up. The 89S52 from Atmel again has a different algo/ timing. I am sure you are not aware that the simulator for PIC has scripting language which is documented. You can add your own simulation and on the forum we share this info. Raisonance does not declare it and for Keil you need to know how to create DLL. Code warrior from Motorola is the probably the best tool for 8 bit and free. So why do free tools stink? It would be unethical of me to entice a dealer to stock a new or an odd chip if it is for students, or in house learning development. This where samples help, not price, availability. And except for real large market like USA and few other countries, what applies to India, applies elsewhere. Terms such as vomit and nausea are not the words to describe anybody's baby. |
