I have used the T6963C controller on a 240x128 display with Dallas DS5000 and it did just fine. It only has two registers so creating a decoder is not difficult. If you don't have any other external devices or a limited number of them you could always use an I/O line from Port 2 (A8-A15) as a /CE line which i found to be very helpful in minimizing cost and glue logic parts on board.
