just have a look at the datsheet for your chip.

Oh, by the way there are now uCs with 20mA push-pull outputs (e.g. Philips LPC), that might do it.

A clear answer requires that you provide
which uC? (ALL the numbers and letters)
what is the LED segment current you want?
commom anode or common cathode?
