#117700 - floppy emulation Responding to: ???'s previous message |
The machines I will be working with are PC based running a propritary os with a standard 1.44meg floppy. These disks are readable by any PC based computer. I need to be able to get settings data into it via the 34-pin floppy connector because no other input is available without hacking into the os which would upset the manufacturer very much. The customers do not wish to continue using floppy disks and would like a direct connection to their data system. So I have decided on attempting to connect my device via serial cable to the data source and floppy cable to the customer device. It is a standard 3.5" PC floppy drive. I have been looking at the /RD line of the floppy with a logic analyzer and I see the time difference of the MFM data. I have researched FDC chips and see they use PLL circuits as data separators but I see they are disapearing also. Looks like I am going to need alot of help figguring out how to "read" the data comming from the floppy cabe and "write" the data so the floppy controller thinks it is reading/writing a floppy drive. I have been getting requests for a device like this from many companies. So it seems worth my time. |
