IMHO, the '51 convention is big endian While I agree that most tools are using big-endian there is a slight advantage for little-endian: Try adding/subtracting a big-endian long variable in xdata memory to a big-endian long variable in data memory. Then compare to the code needed for little-endian variables:) Intel's complete confusion plan :) Yes it's amazing that big-endian tools could establish right before the (otherwise heavily biased towards little endian) eyes of Intel. |
