I do not know how much you have 'decided' on the Dallas part, but SILabs give away the stack by CMX in a form only usable by their chips.
I attended a SILabs (or was it Cygnal) class a while ago and, with a devboard and a SILabs add-on board (both sold by SILabs, total cost <$200) I was connected in less than 15 minutes. The schematics of the above boards are freely available as is the 'user part' of the code. This is NOT to suggest you do not use the Dallas chip (I know nothing about it), just to make you aware of an alternative. Erik |
