#12112 - RE: which development tool to buy??? |
Hi Erik
CC51 is not a band aid. It is the next step in Compiler efficiency. ESA recently did a consulting gig for Philips. This was an implementation of CMX' MicroNet and a limited CANOpen display. They started out using Keil V6.10 and ran out of room on their server. By switching over to Raisonance and CC51 they were able to cut their executable code size by about 35% on both the server and the target. I don't remember the size of the server to the byte but the executable was about 22K and they saved about 6K. Here are the sizes reported by their programmer for their target code: Keil: 3204 bytes Raisonance: 2518 bytes (21% less than Keil) Raisonance with CC51: 2079 bytes (35% less than Keil) I don't think that Keil tools are bad tools but they aren't the most efficient tools anymore. They used to be but times change. Erik Malund wrote: ------------------------------- raisonance offers code compressor... Why would they do that if their code was not bloated but as compact as Keil/HiTech. Keil/HiTech could not release a code compressor, their code can not be compressed any further. Erik |
