#121175 - Purpose of using flash
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Andy Neil said:

As Erik says, you can't.

That's why flash is not generally a good choice when you need to write individual bytes!

Perhaps if you said what you're actually trying to achieve, people might be able to offer informed suggestions...

In my project I need to save the settings (about 20 values) in some place in the micro-controller so that when I reboot the system I should be able to retrieve the previous settings.

For example,

There are 3 Mute buttons....If during the operation I set 2 Mute buttons HIGH and 1 Mute button LOW, I should save this setting in the micro-controller. When I turn the power OFF and turn power ON after some time I must be able to read the previous Mute settings which I would have set.
