They act like two resonant tanks in parallel. They have two different frequencies of resonance.

Start up could be tricky. But I don't know you could try it and see what happens. Erratic behavior might not be so bad for a couple of spikes.

Try it by hand. With parallel configuration. Then disconnect to one crystal.
