#127937 - Missing the point! Responding to: ???'s previous message |

GSM Modem has all the interfacing connections Transmit data, Receive data etc including socket for SIM. Why mechanical arrangements? Have you actually seen any GSM modem on which the SIM "socket" would be either convenient or robust enough for use in an access-control system? All the GSM modems I've ever seen are obviously designed on the assumption that the SIM is changed, at most, very infrequently. Also, as Jan says, using a GSM modem purely as a SIM reader would be a complete waste of 99% of the modem's functionality: http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=127934 The idea behind this is to form the basis of a cheap access-control system: http://www.8052.com/forumchat/read.phtml?id=127781 So, unless you also have a bunch of defunct GSM modems (in addition to the defunct SIMs), I can't see this working out! |
