If, as I guess a "pen drive" is an USB stick, the simple answers is You can't.

A USB stick requires an USB MASTER and no such chip i know of is '51 based.

However, to answer the original question I am using a SST 2Mbyte (when talking memory 'b' is usually 'bit') chip that intefaces easily with the '51. http://www.sst.com/products....ST39VF1681
It is CHEAP ($2.xx in qty)

I would use this or a similar chip and avoid all the file structure stuff.

PS re flash SST erases in milliseconds, most other this size require half a minute.
