I'm sure your parents have given you some advice that you did not like at the time, but later on found it to be valuable.

Finding the path to an answer is usually more valuable than the answer itself.

As I've said before, please don't react to a perceived wrong - we have language and cultural differences and this means different people can interpret the same words different ways. I'm sure if Erik wanted to call someone stupid, he would use the word 'stupid'. We've all asked stupid questions at some time in our life and been made to realise it. Does that make us stupid? Just human.

If you look at the forum (any forum in fact), a well formed question will get a good answer, a poor question will get responses asking more questions. It takes time to learn how to ask a good question.
