Wow, take a step back. You read way too deep into what I wrote. Not once did I ever imply, suggest, or state that I think stealing Keil tools is OK. I'm all for honesty and integrity in all faculties of life. When you state:
Clearly by invoking the verb "playing" you were attempting to characterize his actions as childish, and by invoking the term "vigilante" you are attempting to characterize his actions as irresponsible. You are simply misrepresenting the meaning of what I stated. I never used the word irresponsible or childish so please don't read between the lines and put words in my mouth. I just don't think that we should necessarily assume the worst intentions without adequate evidence. I resent the fact that you imply that I abet a thief; that's just a ridiculous sentiment and a slanderous assumption. If you read my previous post I specifically stated that I am all for people getting paid for their products; quite the opposite of facilitating theft. In response to the question of harm, I think that we need to be careful not to alienate people with language barriers. If I were foreign and had the meaning of my post misunderstood due to a language barrier and that the result was somebody threatening me, I would not feel welcome to use the forum. Erik could very well be right, maybe Zhu Wei is trying to steal, but the fact remains that we simply don't know. Another question or two to make sure wouldn’t have hurt. I would just like to see that people don't jump to conclusions without more certainty so that users of this forum aren't unnecessarily chastised for a misunderstanding. Ethically we're on the same page here; stealing isn't ok. If you want to report theft, by all means; I realize it's well intentioned. Let's just make sure our implementations are diplomatic. D |
