#13351 - RE: Editor recommendations WTD |
When I worked under MS-Windows I used WinEdit, from Wilson WindowWare Inc.
http://www.winedit.com/ It is a shareware product, fully configurable through text INI files: it has all a programmer needs, including configurable syntax highlighting. I wrote an INI file for MCS-51 assembler syntax highlighting, too. And also for Keil C51 extensions. If anyone wants it just ask me... Now I use Linux: under Linux there are a lot of "programmer's editors". I found that the best is Nedit (Nirvana Editor), http://www.nedit.org It is open source (GNU licence) and there is also a Windows version, but I've never tried it under Windows. Using Linux you will find great also Kwrite, and "THE" editor: Emacs. But I prefer Nedit. Nedit is fully configurable, too, and again I wrote a configuration for MCS-51 assembler syntax highlighting. Recently I've tried the last IDE from Keil (uVision), and I've found that the IDE editor seems really good. You can get for free all che IDE: the asm/compiler is limited to a few Kb, but the editor is complete. Best regards, Fausto Marzoli |
