Did you try it in the PC program? Were you satisfied with its output? You cannot expect spectacular sound from a 1:8 compression unless it is a good and complicated one (such as MP3). And, without compression, 8kB of memory barely allows you more than 1-2 seconds of "music" (of the poor radio quality) (even with a very good compression, don't expect much more than that, remember for example, that for good quality music the data stream of MP3 is 128kbit/s, that's half a second from 8kB; extremely low quality could possibly buy you 5-10 seconds in 8kB maybe). On the other hand, what sort of music have you in mind? Couldn't you simply generate tones (squarewave) for a simple melody? That's much more adequate for a microcontroller of this size than attempting to decompress a "real word" music... JW |
