MIDI is a little bit far-fetched but you are on the right track.
I'd first try a simple square-wave tone generator, then pick the tones and lengths (="notes") from a table - this way you can play a simple tune. In fact, this is fairly simple - this was my very first assembler (hand-assembled) program back on 8080... You can then add for nicer output multiple notes at the same time, envelope... JW |
