For decoding the various types of typical TV remote control signal modulation it will also be necessary for you to measure the low time pulse width (if you already are measuring the high time width). For run-of-the-mill variety 8052 type timers that have a gated count control, and if that is the method you choose to measure the pulse width, it may be necessary to utilize two timers. One gated with the signal high period to measure the high time and the other gated with the inverted signal to measure the low time of the signal.
There are of course methods to get around this and to permit the use of just one timer but these often require an interrupt on every signal edge and taking into account the passage of time during the latency into the processing of the interrupt routine. - mkaras |
