#136825 - serial port buffer |
as you all know, my 8051 board works.
Now what I want to do is incorporate serial port communication with my board. In fact, I want my board as a local "internet" server. Basically, I want it to work as if I was really connected to the internet through Dial-up networking. So I have a couple of questions. 1. Is it possible that I could use the board to establish a synchronous dial-up connection with my windows PC? By this, I mean could I have the 8051 either transmit or receive but not do both at the same time when I transmit internet information suck as TCP or PPP headers? 2. If I were to make an asynchronous connection instead, what would be the best way for me to capture (for example) 32 bytes of data from the serial port on an 8051 for asynchronous operations if I use serial port mode 2? And I use Serial port mode 2, because it provides me with a good speed of 56K, given my crystal of 3.686Mhz. I think that with my setup, I can only execute 5 instructions at a time before the receive flag (RI) is forced to logic high by the microprocessor. thanks. |
