#137988 - '51 bootloader basics appnote by Atmel |
Atmel published an appnote C51 General Information about Bootloader and In System Programming
It is only a few lines and contains no detail, rather, some rudimentary information on what things like ISP and bootloader and IAP API are. Much like if it was an 8051.com FAQ... One line from it is noteworthy though: in the chapter on FLIP (Atmel's PC-side program for UART/CAN-ISP), it states: Nothing stops you from creating your own communications application to dialog with the bootloader you can even use Hyperterminal. I like this one :-) JW PS. I learned about this in the automatic notification mail I subscribed to at Atmel. Although '51 related, the mail pushes some AVR links first - and this might perhaps represent the thinking of Atmel about their 8-bit business. |
