#138452 - Bridge Application
Responding to: ???'s previous message
The potential design here is a bridge type application where some PC style appendage hardware, with SensorPath devices in it, is being considered for reuse in a different application. I am trying to evaluate if there is a cost effective way to make a small microcontroller device which connects the SensorPath elements in the reused hardware to some other bus such as SMBus or I2C. A low pin count 8052 type device could easily do this. The tradeoff of course is to simply redesign the appendage devices to use I2C or SST bus devices themselves but there then is the loss of commonality, manufacturing two SKUs instead of one, and the need, in the I2C case, to add an additional active signal pin in the connector definition.
