Interesting. I messed around with the config program last night trying to answer the original question, and found it to be almost brain dead in the way it was handling the CP0RIE and CP0FIE bits. If the code generated by config worked for you, then I suspect that either

It may have been in the old days with config. Today the program is named config2. Of course the opposite is possible as well (I used config2 and you use config)
