#142019 - Pull-ups (and Pull-downs) Responding to: ???'s previous message |
P.sathiya Moorthy said:
what is the need of pullup resistor A Pull-up is needed with an output that can only actively drive a low logic level - the pullup then provides the high level when the output is not driving low. Open-Collector and Open-Drain outputs require pullups, as does a simple switch to ground. See: http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=25522 Update: The links to the so-called "bible" for the 8051 in the thread cited above are now out-of-date; Philips Semiconductors is now NXP. The updated links are in the FAQ: http://www.8052.com/faqs.phtml?FAQ=120112 |
