#143914 - 89V51RD2 ISP problem
Hello,

I am trying to make a general purpose development board using 89V51RD2 for experimentation. I am using this chip for the first time. Earlier I was using 89C51RD2.
I have a problem related to the execution of program downloaded in the chip.
Details:

Controller: P89V51RD2
Connections: TXD, RXS as usual. DTR pin is connected to RST pin of controller through a tristate buffer in exactly the same way as shown in Flash magic manual.

Programming Tool: Flash Magic Version 3.64

What am I doing:
Program the chip with any hex file using flash magic.
It programs the chip successfully and shows 'finished'.

Problem:
1) When the option 'Use DTR to control RST' is DEselected:
Progam execution starts only when RESET command is sent from ISP menu of flash magic. Without this, program does not execute.

2) When the option 'Use DTR to control RST' is selected:
Nothing happens. Program exectution does not start at all.

In both cases, if I power cycle the board with or without the RS232 cable removed, program does not start executing at all.

It indicates the chip needs some software reset? How to do that?

Any suggestions / solutions?

Thanks and Regards,
