Aside from your USB/COM problem under Linux, I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that the AT89S-series microcontrollers are programmed using SPI-like protocol, so you'll have some utility which bit-bangs SPI on RS232 lines under Linux.
You can find some basic hints searching on this forum for "AT89S Linux", but I've seen no reports here nor elsewhere on their usability... JW |
