...then you probably shouldn't be messing with live 220V AC mains!
One of the reasons why so many produncts use these external "wall-wart" power supplies is because even those manufacturers don't want to get involved with live AC mains - so they just buy-in ready made tested and approved units! To get so small, your phone charger is almost certainly switch-mode - which is also not a beginner's exercise. But you can easily get a 12V DC supply using just a simple trasnformer and recifier - and, at only 100mA, it needn't be very big... |
