#14654 - RE: error correcting codes
Hi Steve,

The Reed-Solomon and Viterby encoding is very different, because first one is modular code and second one is sequenced code.

>Can an 8052 decode the message in real >time ?

Well, it depends on what is polinomial size, code interval and so on.

About 15 years ago I write the program for processing Viterby codes. The code distance was 3. The program could correct any 2 bits among 10 bits in the sequence stream 1200 baud in real time. I think the modern '52 can process 9600 bps stream.

By the way, what is the signal-to-noise ratio on your channel? There is tonnes
of codes to implement. For example, PNR code, (16,8) code, Goley ...Hemming code at last. All is up to you:-)

Cheers,
George
