#148090 - No wear mechanism
Responding to: ???'s previous message

This checking goes on day in and out.

Yes, that is the way that embedded systems usually operate!

My question is what is the reasonable life of the chip if this goes on like this without any respite.

Provided that your design does not stress the chip beyond the limits specified in the datasheet, it should last indefinitely!

Running code does not cause any wear on the chip;
Checking a port bit does not cause any wear on the chip.
