The standard 8051 port structure is always and only Quasi-bidiredctional - it does not have specifically configurable "input" and "output" modes.

This is important when you contrast it to other processors, and derivatives like the LPC series which do have non-standard ports that can be specifically configured as "input" (only) or "output" (only).
