"...managing MMI (Men-Machine-Interface) in 6 languages..." I see no problem to support 6 languages. Simple place all messages in the EPROM and access it as XDATA. The XDATA access can be stretched and so the slow EPROM can be accessed. So only the real program code (without any constant data) must fit into the internal Flash. "...Increasing the clock as Erik proposes is not an alternative..." How you think, if the code fetch speed was not increased, that nevertheless the code execution speed can be increased ???
