#152690 - Meaning of RxD and TxD Responding to: ???'s previous message |

(I don't want to use RxD and TxD as they are very very misleading in this context). To understand the names, you have to remember that RS232 was specifically designed for connections to modems (DCEs). Therefore, TxD means "Data to be transmitted over the comms link" - which will clearly be an input to the modem; Similarly, RxD means "Data that has been received from the comms link" - which will clearly be an output from the modem. Now it all makes sense! :-) |
