#153405 - My words are not casual...... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Your point on the noob factor.....hmm...I thought about exactly what I said and I stand by it. There are many different ways to approach any given problem. If I choose to use a ljmp vs ajmp jump, I've saved one byte......right now....who cares?
If my program was busting at the seems for storage space, yeah then I'd be concerned. Is it important to adopt gooding skills from the blank slate.....yep....for a noob, does it have to be perfect......nope. He has a specific issue at hand, super tiny program to create it. Hassling about what type of jump to use is well.......pointless. The last time I checked, code, xdata and ram where all memory space no matter how you approach it, they are individual areas used by a 8051 that hold data, be it, volatile or not. So he will be working ENTIRELY in code space anyway, telling him to move the data to a higher memory location WITHIN a 64KB memory space is more than on point. If someone is confusing old PC architecture with an 8051, then this entire thread is useless, regardless if the OP is a noob or not, they would clearly be unable to finish the 8051 task no matter what terms are thrown around.......this is just my opinion......and I've thought them out very carefully. |
