#15344 - RE: Connecting a Floppy to the 8051? |
Hello Christian,
If you want a real floppy controller you can buy a system controller from National, or others, in SMC (difficult to sold), or find a FDC from Western Digital, WD179X (28 pins DIL) in a scrap computer, about 10 years old. Other idea (difficult) : you implement a FDC via VHDL, into a FPGA. Your guideline should be a data sheet of a real component with his structural description. Search in an old data book of Western Digital. A Triscend E5 chip, with macrocells, is an addition of a 8051 with a FPGA. Best regards, J. M. |
