#15414 - RE: Connecting a Floppy to the 8051? |
Simple: DO NOT ATTEMPT IT
While its relatively trivial, look around at technology - there are better interfaces. Consider: (1) iButtons (limited memory buy good industrial interface) (2) a flash memory card. <-- CHOOSE HERE. (3) My favorite: IrDA data to a Palm. (IrDA will suck your brains out.) (4) Avoid "Smart Cards" - Too much trouble to mess with. Avoid all moving parts or minimize them in any design. Toss the floppy out with the Teletype machine and the Selectric typewriter. Burial at sea preferred. Tumbling them done the stairs is good in inland sites. -duh |
