Hi Alexander,
16 bit means, the CRC was 16 bit, not the data stream. The data can have every length and must not be multiple of 8 or 16 bits. But since the 8051 was an 8 bit machine, so calculation of CRC on 8 bits was more efficient, than on every bit separate. Peter |
