#15472 - 80C52 BASIC troubleshooting |
I recently completed constructing an 80C52 BASIC board from the circuit found in The Microcontroller Idea Book. I am not getting any output from the microcontroller. I am using Hyperterminal for serial comm software on a Win98 computer. I have set the baud rate to 9600(for an 11.0592Mhz oscillator), no parity, no control bits.
I have run the following tests which all give the correct results: 1)All IC's connected to power and ground 2)Pin 9(reset) goes high, then low after pressing the reset switch 3)Pin 10, serial in(to the 8052) toggles when I press the space bar, so it is receiving serial data which rules out problems with the SPC233 IC. Also, when I connect the serial in to serial out together on the 8052, any key I press goes to the terminal window, which also shows the SPC233MAX IC is working properly. 4)Pin 30 is toggling at 1/6 the oscillator frequency. 5)The oscillator is oscillating at approx. 11Mhz(I tested this on an oscilloscope) with an RMS value of 2.5V. 6)Pins 21-28(memory pins) toggle immediately after boot. What could be causing the chip to not give any output? I would greatly, greatly appreciate any help. |
