So what? This is completely consistent with my hypothesis that you have hardware flow control on and this is what is stopping HyperTerminal from [B][U]transmitting[/U][/B].

Hardware flow control on the PC does not ever stop HyperTerminal from receiving characters.

Hardware flow control, despite its name, is not actually implemented in hardware on the PC, and this is why you can use DEBUG to force the transmission of a character when CTS is deasserted.
