#156688 - S8252 and S8253 have different ISP to S52 and S53 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
As far as I know, the Atmel AVR tools like STK500 and AVR-ISP2 do not support the AT89S8253 chip.
AT89S52, S53 and AVR chips all use four SPI bytes per command. The AT89S8252 uses three SPI bytes. The algorithms and source code are freely available, so it is fairly trivial to implement the extra support. My own personal programmer does these chips. What does your documentation say ? The STK500 definitely does not do the 8252 or 8253. I think that Atmel just intend to support the AVRs. The AT89S52 is just an anomaly because it has the same pin-out as some AVR chips and ISP format. David. |
